Weather Update: Only 4 areas under Storm Signal Number 1 as Ramon moves westward

As of 11am today, according to PAGASA, Tropical Depression"RAMON" has maintained its strength and slightly accelerated as it continues to move Northwestward.

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Metro Manila was placed under storm signal number 1 on Wednesday as tropical depression “Ramon” has changed its course. The weather disturbance is now headed for the Mindoro area, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Less than two weeks after “Pedring” and “Quiel” battered Northern Luzon and the country's east coast, a new typhoon may be brewing.

Another candidate of a likely becoming to be a tropical depression will soon enter Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday according to PAGASA forecaster, Sonny Pajarilla.

The latest forecast today at 2:00 p.m. is a low pressure area estimated at 520 km East Northeast of Southern Luzon which will affect Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

UPDATE 2: Typhoon Quiel continues to move away from RP

Typhoon "QUIEL" is still over the West Philippine Sea and continues to move away from the country, according to PAGASA.

Laoag, baguio and Olongapo areas are still experiencing gusty winds. These are the areas still under Signal number 1 with 45-60 kph winds:

Cagayan and Isabela area now under Signal No. 3 as storm Quiel heightens

At 4 PM today, Aldczar Aurelio, PAGASA weather forecaster reported that two areas in Northern Luzon are under Storm Signal Number 3.

These are Isabela and Cagayan Area.

UPDATE 1: Typhoon QUIEL, first land fall on Cagayan Area

According to Gladys Saludes, PAGASA forecaster, storm Quiel may make landfall on the Cagayan Area on Saturday or Sunday.

The typhoon with international codename Nalgae has maintained its strength as it moves closer to North of Luzon on Thursday evening.

Philippine weather bureau PAGASA said that after typhoon Pedring exits on Wednesday, September 27, another typhoon is waiting in line and is expected to enter Philippine area of responsibility this weekend.

Update 3: 'Pedring' maintains strength; floods continue to affect several areas in Luzon

Philippines - Typhoon Pedring has continued to gain strength aftr crossing Morthern Luzon and is now over West Philippine sea according to PAGASA issued at 5PM today. It still has a maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and Gustiness of up to 150 kph.

ALBAY, Philippines - Typhoon Pedring (international name Nesat) will make landfall early Tuesday morning in Casiguran, Aurora, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Public Storm Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Northern Quezon, including Polillo Island, Aurora, Quirino, and Isabela.

DepEd suspends afternoon classes in NCR

The Department of Education (DepEd) has suspended afternoon classes in preschool to highschool in the National Capital Region Monday, amid heavy rains brought by tropical storm Pedring.

Upon the recommendation of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa), DepEd has announced the cancellation of classes, according to NCR Regional Director Elena Ruiz.

9 areas under storm signals as 'Pedring' nears north PHL

At least nine areas were placed under storm signals - one of them under Signal No. 2 - as Tropical Storm Pedring (international name: Nesat) intensified further and accelerated towards he Isabela-Auroral area Sunday afternoon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration also hinted Pedring may affect Metro Manila by Monday evening.
