MANILA, Philippines - "Praybeyt Benjamin" earned P200 million in ticket sales in eight days, according to SM Cinema, one of the country's biggest movie theater operators.
This is only P20 million shy of the P220 million in ticket sales achieved by blockbuster movie "No Other Woman" in three weeks.
Star Cinema has said that "No Other Woman," a film about the complications of an extra-marital affair, is currently the highest grossing Filipino movie of all time.
Earlier, King of Talk Boy Abunda said "Praybeyt Benjamin" earned P110 million in ticket sales in four days.
In an interview on ABS-CBN celebrity talk show "The Buzz" over the weekend, lead star Vice Ganda thanked everyone who has already seen the movie.
"Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng hindi nagpakabog sa pila ng 'Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin.' Bonggang bongga, blockbuster hit," he said.
"In-expect ko po talaga maghi-hit kasi maganda ang material, pero hindi ganito kalala. Sumobra sa expectations ko, OA ang hit talaga," he added.
"Praybeyt Benjamin" tells the story of a gay man who enters military service to save his grandfather, who was abducted by terrorists.
Joining the film's star-studded cast are Eddie Garcia, Jimmy Santos, Derek Ramsay, Nikki Valdez, Kean Cipriano, DJ Durano, Vandolph Quizon, Carlos Agassi and Dennis Padilla.
