Malacanang has declared November 7 a regular holiday for the important Muslim religious holiday Eid'l Adha.
"Yes, November 7 has been declared a regular holiday. Enjoy, folks!," Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in her Twitter account.
"Eid'l Adha falls on November 7 [Monday], which has been declared a regular holiday," Valte added.
The muslim celebration celebrated worldwide is a "festival of Sacrifice" or "Greater Eid" in commemoration of the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael.
Filipinos will enjoy two consecutive long weekends on November.
Earlier, Malacanang has issued a proclamation making October 31 a special non-working holiday to give Filipinos more travel time for All Souls Day commemmoration. November 1, Tuesday is also a special non-working holiday.
The Department of Labor and Employment said people who work on regular holidays, in this case those who will be working on November 7, are entitled to 200 percent of their basic wages for the first eight hours.
In excess of eight hours, the employer must give an additional 30 percent of the worker’s wage on an hourly basis.
If an employee is not working on a regular holiday, he or she is still entitled to 100 percent of his or her regular daily rate, “ provided he or she was present, or was on leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.”
Meanwhile, if an employee works on a regular holiday that also falls on his or her rest day, he or she is entitled to 200 percent of the daily rate for the first eight hours and an additional 30 percent for additional hours.
