UPDATE 1: Typhoon QUIEL, first land fall on Cagayan Area

According to Gladys Saludes, PAGASA forecaster, storm Quiel may make landfall on the Cagayan Area on Saturday or Sunday.

The typhoon with international codename Nalgae has maintained its strength as it moves closer to North of Luzon on Thursday evening.

Science undersecretary Graciano Yumul said that the upcoming typhoon may follow Pedring's track when it enters PAR.

At 4 PM today, this is the official update of PAGASA: "Tropical Storm "QUIEL" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,040 KM East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.1°N, 132.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 KPH. It is forecast to move West at 13 KPH."

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.
