MANILA, Philippines - The state's weather bureau said that another tropical storm has entered the Philippine area of responsibility and has been named "Pedring."
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 4 p.m., the tropical storm's center was estimated at 1,030 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
The storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph. It was moving west northwest at a speed of 19 kph.
PAGASA said that the storm was still "too far to directly affect any part of the country."
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has alerted all its units nationwide ahead of the storm's entry into the country's territorial waters.
The storm was forecast to hit areas in the northern part of Luzon.
